If you’ve typed “Cutco store near me” into your phone anywhere between Ventura and Laguna Beach, you probably expected a map full of pins. Instead, you got a handful of results that didn’t quite answer the question. I get it. I’m Deanna Scortino, “The Knife Gal,” and after 20 years of selling Cutco in Southern California, “Where’s the store?” is still one of the first things people ask me.
This article gives you the straight answer, explains why Cutco works the way it does, and shows you exactly how people in Los Angeles, Orange County, and Ventura County get their hands on Cutco, without driving all over town looking for a storefront.
The Short Answer: Cutco Isn’t a Store Brand
Cutco has never been sold the way most kitchen knives are. You won’t find it hanging on a peg at a big-box store or sitting in a department store display case. Since 1949, Cutco has been sold primarily through independent sales representatives who demonstrate the knives in person.
The company has opened a small number of its own retail stores over the years, starting with its first location in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 2005. But those stores have always been the exception, not the rule. If you want to check for a current company location, cutco.com is the place to look. For most of us here in Southern California, though, the real “Cutco store” is a person, not a building.
Why Cutco Skips the Retail Shelf
This isn’t an accident. Cutco is a product you really need to hold and use to understand, and a shelf can’t do that for you:
- The handle. It was designed by Thomas Lamb, who studied more than 700 pairs of hands before creating it. On a shelf, it just looks like a handle. In your hand, you feel how it locks your grip in place.
- The Double-D® edge. Reading that it cuts forward, backward, and straight down doesn’t mean much until you slice through a tomato and watch it glide.
- The fit. The right knives depend on how you cook. A demonstration lets you try every knife you’re curious about instead of buying a boxed set and hoping for the best.
That’s why Cutco is built around demonstrations, and why I’d rather put a knife in your hand than a box in your cart.
Where Southern Californians Actually Buy Cutco
Without a storefront on every corner, here are the real options, from most personal to least:
- A local Cutco representative. This is how most people buy Cutco, and it’s the option I’d recommend to my own family. You get a hands-on demonstration, personalized recommendations, and someone local to call years down the road.
- Costco roadshows. Cutco occasionally sets up temporary displays inside Costco warehouses. They’re fun to stumble onto, but they’re only there for a short window, the selection is limited, and the booth packs up when the roadshow ends. I break down the pros and cons in How to Buy Cutco at Costco (and Why There’s a Better Option).
- Online. You can shop the full Cutco line online anytime. My tip: order through a local rep’s personal shop page. You get the same products, plus a real person in your corner if anything comes up.
- Resale sites. You’ll see Cutco on eBay and Facebook Marketplace. Some of it is perfectly fine, but you can’t always tell how a knife was treated, whether pieces are missing, or exactly what you’re getting.

What a Rep Gives You That a Store Can’t
Even if there were a Cutco store down the street, I’d still make the case for working with a rep:
- You only buy what you’ll actually use. Someone who makes salads every night needs different tools than someone who smokes brisket on weekends. Some people walk away with a full set. Others start with two or three pieces and build from there. My Ultimate Guide to Cutco Knife Sets is a good primer.
- You learn to use them well. I show people how to hold a knife, let the blade do the work, and care for their Cutco so it lasts for generations.
- You have someone to call. A store clerk won’t remember you next year. I will. Sharpening, new pieces, gifts for clients: you have a direct line.
- You get help with gifting. Many of my customers are business owners and real estate agents. If that’s you, take a look at Cutco Business Gifts.
Already Own Cutco? You Still Want a Local Contact
Plenty of people searching for a Cutco store already own Cutco. Maybe they bought from a college student years ago and lost touch, or inherited a set from a parent. They’re not looking to buy. They want sharpening, a replacement piece, or just a question answered.
That’s exactly what a local rep is for. The Forever Guarantee covers free sharpening (the only cost is a nominal return shipping and handling fee), and it covers your knives for as long as you own them, whether you bought them yourself or received them as a gift. I’m happy to help any Southern California Cutco owner take advantage of it.

Questions I Get About Finding a Cutco Store
Is there a Cutco store in Southern California?
Cutco is sold primarily through independent representatives rather than retail stores, and company-owned locations are rare. For current store locations, check cutco.com. For a local, hands-on experience in Los Angeles, Orange County, or Ventura County, a rep is your best bet.
Can I see Cutco knives in person before I buy?
Yes. That’s the whole idea behind a Cutco demonstration. You handle and test the knives, ask questions, and get recommendations based on how you cook, with no obligation to buy.
Is buying from a rep different from buying online?
The products and the Forever Guarantee are the same. The difference is support. When you order through a local rep, you have a real person to help with recommendations, sharpening, and future purchases.
Does Cutco sell at Costco in Southern California?
Cutco occasionally runs temporary roadshows inside Costco warehouses. They come and go, so if you want Cutco on your schedule, a local rep or online shop is more reliable.
I bought Cutco years ago and lost my rep. What do I do?
Just reach out to a local rep. In Southern California, that can be me. I can help with sharpening, replacements, and adding new pieces to your collection.
